The Literary Arts Council of Central Florida (LACCF) was established in 2025 with a simple but powerful belief: stories shape cities. Supported by a collective of writers, poets, educators, and organizers, LACCF works to unify Central Florida’s growing literary community and ensure that the written and spoken word are recognized as essential forces for civic connection and cultural growth.

We strengthen the region’s literary ecosystem by linking artists, educators, venues, publishers, and institutions through shared infrastructure, coordinated programming, and public engagement that amplifies local voices.

We've begun laying the groundwork for a connected literary region—launching our website, mapping the places where stories live, cataloging the organizations that shape our literary landscape, and curating a shared events calendar that brings the community into view. We’ve lifted diverse voices through public programs, including our FusionFest author's showcase honoring the heritage and artistry of Central Florida’s writers.

These early efforts begin the development of coordinated visibility, shared tools, and the inter-connected programming to support a literary ecosystem.

Demonstration Project

From June 9–13, Southern Fried will transform Central Florida into a living stage for literature—stretching from the Eatonville Library, where Zora Neale Hurston’s legacy will be honored through a #ReviveZora kickoff, to the Orlando Museum of Art for the championship finals. More than 200 poets, community workshops, youth engagement, and citywide programming will activate the region in a five-day celebration of spoken word.

Together, Southern Fried and Revive Zora demonstrate exactly what LACCF was built to deliver: shared platforms, artist investment, cultural preservation, and a unified literary ecosystem capable of elevating Central Florida’s creative identity on a national stage.
