Allegedly named after Judge Speer’s favorite Shakespeare play, Orlando is the only major city in the United States named after literary character. We believe strongly in honoring our roots as a city of stories by cultivating the next generation of storytellers through our writer’s workshops. All proceeds go towards building a community where literary arts are woven into the fabric of everyday life by supporting our artists and expanding LACCF's programming.

Course Description

Have you ever been to a poetry open mic night, heard poets perform, and thought, “Ugh, I wish I could do that” “They’re so brave” “They’re so creative” “They’re so dope” “I could never” etc?

For whatever it’s worth, I’m here to tell you, you CAN do that! You ARE brave! You ARE creative! And I would love to spend some time with you to help you find that voice!

After 20 plus years of writing and performance experience, founding the longest running open mic in Central Florida, and becoming the City of Orlando’s 2nd Poet Laureate, I’ve shifted some of my energy to teaching and coaching others at their pace, with a community of others willing to learn.
